The City of Wolverhampton Council collects the black bin (mixed recycling — paper, card, glass bottles and jars, food tins, drink cans and plastic bottles and pots) fortnightly, and the brown or green bin (non-recyclable general household waste) weekly. Garden waste goes in a purple bin on a paid annual subscription (£55, running February to December). The key thing to remember: in Wolverhampton the black bin is recycling and general rubbish goes in the brown/green bin — the opposite of most councils. Present bins by 6:30am. Wrong items in the black bin trigger an orange tag and the bin is left.
