Never miss a West Lindsey bin day again

West Lindsey District Council covers Gainsborough, Market Rasen, Caistor and the villages of northern Lincolnshire. It uses the distinctive Lincolnshire purple-lidded bin to keep paper and card separate, with a new weekly food waste service arriving in 2026.

How West Lindsey bin collections work

West Lindsey runs three bins in rotation — black, blue and purple-lidded — plus a new orange-lidded food caddy and a paid green garden bin. It's a lot to track. My Bin Day texts you the evening before each collection so the right bin goes out. Just £0.99 a month, no ads, cancel anytime. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future.

Common questions

When are bins collected in West Lindsey?

West Lindsey collects the black general-refuse bin every fortnight, with the blue mixed-recycling bin and the purple-lidded paper and card bin collected on the alternating weeks. The blue bin takes plastic bottles, cartons, metal cans and glass; the purple-lidded bin is paper and card only. A new weekly food waste service (orange-lidded caddy) is being introduced in 2026 under Simpler Recycling. Garden waste is a paid subscription (around £48 a year, green bin, fortnightly March to November). Lincolnshire County Council handles disposal.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track West Lindsey's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official West Lindsey council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with West Lindsey or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
