Walsall runs a straightforward three-bin scheme where green is the recycling bin: a grey bin for rubbish, a green bin for all your mixed recycling, and a brown bin for garden waste in the warmer months. A weekly food waste collection is being added under national recycling rules.
Walsall Council collects the grey bin (non-recyclable general waste) and the green bin (mixed recycling — paper, card, plastics, metals and glass) on alternating fortnightly weeks. The brown bin is for garden waste, collected seasonally between roughly April and November on its own separate day and week. A weekly food waste service is being introduced under the government's Simpler Recycling reforms. Put bins out by 6:30am with the lids closed. Contaminated recycling gets a yellow tag and is left until the wrong items are removed.
