Never miss a Test Valley bin day again

Test Valley Borough Council covers Andover, Romsey and the surrounding Hampshire villages. Note the colour trap: here the brown bin is for recycling, not garden waste. Refuse and recycling alternate fortnightly, with a weekly food waste service launched in October 2025.

How Test Valley bin collections work

Test Valley's brown bin is for recycling, not garden waste — an easy one to get wrong. Between that, the black refuse bin, the new weekly food caddy and a paid garden bin, My Bin Day keeps you right with a text the evening before each collection. Just £0.99 a month, no ads, cancel anytime. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Test Valley?

Test Valley collects the black general-waste bin (240L) and the brown recycling bin (240L) on alternating fortnightly weeks, with a weekly food waste caddy introduced in October 2025. Note the colours: brown is the recycling bin here, taking paper, card, cans, tins, aerosols and plastic bottles. Garden waste is a separate paid subscription collected fortnightly. A wider range of recycling (including glass) is expected once a new Hampshire facility opens around 2028. Hampshire County Council handles disposal via Project Integra.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Test Valley's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Test Valley council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Test Valley or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
