Swindon runs a sort-at-home recycling service with boxes and a weighted blue bag, collected fortnightly, alongside a black bin for rubbish. Food waste is collected weekly, and garden waste is a separate paid green bin.
Swindon Borough Council collects the black wheelie bin (or blue refuse bags for some properties) for general, non-recyclable waste, and the recycling containers — kerbside boxes plus a weighted, reusable blue recycling bag for paper, card, glass, cans and plastics, with a green box for textiles and small electricals — on alternating fortnightly weeks. Food waste is collected weekly in an outdoor caddy. Garden waste goes in a green bin or bags on a paid subscription (around £68.50 a year), collected fortnightly. Present all containers by 6am on collection day. Note: Swindon is a separate council from Wiltshire.
