Never miss a Stoke-on-Trent bin day again

Stoke-on-Trent keeps to a grey bin for rubbish and a blue bin for all your mixed recycling, alternating week about. Garden waste is an opt-in paid brown bin, and a weekly food waste caddy is being introduced under new national recycling rules.

How Stoke-on-Trent bin collections work

Stoke-on-Trent City Council collects the grey bin (general, non-recyclable household waste) and the blue bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, card, plastics, metals, cartons and glass, loose) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on an opt-in paid subscription (around £40 a year), collected fortnightly on the same week as your blue bin. A separate weekly food waste caddy is being introduced under the national Simpler Recycling rules. Present bins by 6am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Stoke-on-Trent?

Stoke-on-Trent collects the grey (general waste) and blue (mixed recycling) bins on alternating fortnights, with a paid opt-in brown garden bin and a new weekly food caddy rolling out. Note grey is general and blue is recycling here. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Stoke-on-Trent's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Stoke-on-Trent council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Stoke-on-Trent or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
