Never miss a Stockport bin day again

Stockport pairs its four bins into two fortnightly rounds: black and green go out together one week, blue and brown the next. Garden waste now needs a paid permit to go in the green bin, though food waste in it is still collected either way.

How Stockport bin collections work

Stockport Council collects bins in two fortnightly pairs. In one week the black bin (non-recyclable general waste) and the green bin (food waste, plus garden waste if you have a valid permit) go out together. In the alternate week the blue bin (paper, card and cartons) and the brown bin (plastic, glass, tins, cans and aerosols) are collected together. Present bins by 6:30am on collection day — the evening before is the safe habit — with the lids fully closed.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Stockport?

Stockport collects the black (general waste) and green (food and garden) bins together one week, then the blue (paper and card) and brown (plastic, glass and cans) bins together the next, on a fortnightly cycle. Your exact day depends on your address — My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you never confuse recycling week with non-recycling week.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Stockport's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Stockport council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Stockport or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
