Never miss a South Holland bin day again

South Holland District Council covers Spalding, Holbeach, Long Sutton and the villages of the south Lincolnshire fens. It is moving from a sack-based service to wheelie bins from November 2026, adding split paper/card recycling and a weekly food waste collection.

How South Holland bin collections work

South Holland is switching from sacks to wheelie bins from late 2026, with a new weekly food caddy and split recycling. It's a big change to get used to. My Bin Day texts you the evening before each collection so the right container goes out. Just £0.99 a month, no ads, cancel anytime. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future.

Common questions

When are bins collected in South Holland?

Until late 2026, South Holland collects general waste in black sacks and recycling in green sacks on alternating fortnightly weeks. From November 2026, new wheelie bins replace the sacks: general waste stays fortnightly, recycling splits into mixed dry recycling and separate paper and card (each alternate fortnightly), and a weekly food waste collection is added. Garden waste is a paid subscription (around £54, brown bin or paper sacks) collected fortnightly. Lincolnshire County Council handles disposal.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track South Holland's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official South Holland council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with South Holland or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
