Never miss a Slough bin day again

Slough uses a grey bin for rubbish, a red bin for all your mixed recycling and a green bin for garden waste, each collected fortnightly. A weekly silver food caddy was rolled out borough-wide by April 2026.

How Slough bin collections work

Slough Borough Council collects the grey bin (general refuse) and the red bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, magazines, newspapers, flattened cardboard and food boxes, glass jars and bottles with lids, drink cans, metal food tins, and plastic bottles — clean, dry and loose) on alternating fortnightly weeks; the two are never collected in the same week. Food waste is collected weekly in a silver caddy, on the same day as your red or grey bin. Garden waste goes in a green bin on a paid subscription (around £50 a year), collected fortnightly. Flats with communal bins keep weekly collections. Present bins by 7am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Slough?

Slough collects the grey (general waste) and red (mixed recycling) bins on alternating fortnights, with a weekly silver food caddy and a paid green garden bin. Note grey is general and red is recycling here. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you never mix up grey week with red week.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Slough's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Slough council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Slough or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
