Never miss a Richmond bin day again

Richmond upon Thames collects rubbish, recycling and food waste all weekly. Recycling is split into two boxes — a green box for glass, cans, plastics and cartons, and a blue box for paper and card — and food waste goes out with your rubbish. Garden waste is a paid brown bin.

How Richmond bin collections work

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames collects, all weekly on the same day: the black bin or sacks (general non-recyclable rubbish, collected together with food waste on the same vehicle in separate compartments); the green box (glass bottles and jars, tins, cans, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, and cartons); and the blue box (paper and card). Food waste goes in a kitchen caddy and larger outdoor green food container. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. The council does not provide refuse bins or sacks — buy your own (black, not blue). Each vehicle arrives at a different time, so present everything by 7am.

Richmond upon Thames collects rubbish, food waste, and two recycling boxes (a green box for glass, cans and plastics; a blue box for paper and card) all weekly, with a paid brown garden bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which containers to sort out.

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Richmond's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Richmond council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Richmond or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
