Pendle Borough Council covers Nelson, Colne, Barnoldswick, Brierfield and the Lancashire villages near the Yorkshire border. It runs a distinctive four-bin service where paper/card and glass/cans/plastic are each collected only every four weeks, alongside fortnightly refuse.

Pendle collects the grey general-waste bin every two weeks, with the blue bin (paper and cardboard) and the brown bin (glass, plastic, cans and foil) each collected once every four weeks. Note the brown bin is for containers here, not garden waste. Garden waste goes in a green bin on a paid subscription (around £41 a year, fortnightly, March to November). A weekly food waste caddy service is being introduced. Lancashire County Council handles disposal.
