Never miss a Mid Sussex bin day again

Mid Sussex District Council covers Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and the surrounding West Sussex villages. From November 2026 it moved to a '1-2-3' service: food weekly, recycling fortnightly and general rubbish every three weeks.

How Mid Sussex bin collections work

Mid Sussex runs a 1-2-3 cycle — food every week, recycling every two weeks, rubbish every three. With a paid garden bin on top, it's easy to lose track. My Bin Day texts you the evening before each collection so the right bin goes out. Just £0.99 a month, no ads, cancel anytime. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Mid Sussex?

Since November 2026 Mid Sussex collects food waste weekly (green food bin), mixed recycling fortnightly (blue-lidded bin) and general rubbish every three weeks (black-lidded bin). The blue bin takes paper, card, tins, plastics and glass. Garden waste is a paid subscription collected fortnightly from a separate green garden bin. West Sussex County Council handles disposal via the Ford MRF.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Mid Sussex's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Mid Sussex council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Mid Sussex or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
