Never miss a Medway bin day again

Medway does things differently from most councils: everything is collected weekly, on the same day. General rubbish goes in black sacks you buy yourself, recycling goes in brown bags or a brown bin, and food and garden waste share a separate brown organic bin. One collection day covers the lot.

How Medway bin collections work

Medway Council collects all your waste weekly on a single collection day, using different vehicles. Non-recyclable rubbish goes in black sacks (which residents buy themselves), not a council wheelie bin. Recycling — paper, card, plastic bottles, glass, tins and cans — goes in brown recycling bags or a brown recycling bin, rinsed and loose. Food and garden waste go together in a separate brown organic wheelie bin, with a food caddy. Garden waste in council-provided brown sacks is limited to two per collection. Flats use clear recycling sacks or shared bins. Present everything at the kerbside by 7am on your collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Medway?

Medway collects everything weekly on the same day: black sacks for rubbish, brown bags or a brown bin for recycling, and a separate brown organic bin for food and garden waste. Unusually, rubbish goes in resident-bought black sacks rather than a wheelie bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before your collection so you never miss the day.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Medway's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Medway council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Medway or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
