Kirklees keeps things refreshingly simple: a grey bin for general waste and a green bin for all your mixed recycling, alternating week about. Garden waste is a separate paid brown-bin service. Two main bins on alternating weeks means the only thing to track is which week you're on.
Kirklees Council collects the grey bin (non-recyclable household waste) every two weeks and the green bin (mixed recycling — paper, card, plastic bottles and containers, glass bottles and jars, and metal cans and aerosols, all mixed together and loose) on the alternate fortnight. Garden waste is collected fortnightly through the paid Clip and Collect brown-bin subscription. Keep green-bin recycling clean, dry and loose — bagged or contaminated recycling can lead to the bin being left. Present bins by the morning of collection.
