Never miss a Kingston bin day again

Kingston runs a twin-stream recycling service: a green bin or box for containers and glass, and a separate blue-lidded bin for paper and card. General rubbish is a black bin every fortnight, food waste is weekly, and garden waste is a paid brown bin.

How Kingston bin collections work

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames collects the black bin (general non-recyclable waste) every fortnight. Recycling is twin-stream: green recycling bins or boxes (and blue sacks) take mixed recycling — plastic bottles, semi-rigid packaging, glass, tins and cans; blue-lidded bins (and clear sacks) take paper and cardboard. Recycling is collected fortnightly in most cases. Food waste is collected weekly using a lockable outdoor bin and kitchen caddy. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription (around £104 a year), collected fortnightly. Present containers by 6:30am on collection day.

When are bins collected in Kingston upon Thames?

Kingston collects the black (general waste) bin fortnightly, twin-stream recycling fortnightly (a green bin or box for containers and glass, a blue-lidded bin for paper and card), a weekly food caddy, and a paid brown garden bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which container is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Kingston's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Kingston council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Kingston or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
