Herefordshire runs a black bin for rubbish and a green bin for all your mixed recycling, alternating week about, with a separate paid brown bin for garden waste. The council has been expanding its recycling service, so some properties may have extra containers for paper and card or food.
Herefordshire Council collects the black bin (or black sacks — non-recyclable general waste, including food waste where a separate food service isn't yet in place) one week, and the green recycling bin (paper, card, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, tubs and trays, tins and cans — clean and loose) the next. Properties without wheelie bins get clear recycling sacks and a box for glass. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. Small electricals and batteries can be left on top of the bin. Present bins by 7am on collection day.
