Never miss a Havering bin day again

Havering collects general rubbish and recycling weekly, using black and orange sacks in many streets rather than wheelie bins. Garden waste is a paid brown bin, and a new separate food waste service is on the way.

How Havering bin collections work

The London Borough of Havering collects general rubbish (black bin or black sacks) and mixed dry recycling (blue bin or orange sacks — paper, card, glass, tins, cans and plastics, loose) both weekly, usually on the same day. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. A separate borough-wide food waste collection is being introduced, with the rollout dependent on new vehicles expected in October 2026; until then, most food waste goes in the general rubbish. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Sacks cannot be presented inside wheelie bins. Present waste by 7am on collection day.
