Never miss a Havant bin day again

Havant Borough Council covers Havant, Waterlooville, Hayling Island and Emsworth in south-east Hampshire. Refuse and recycling are collected fortnightly. Glass is not collected at the kerbside — it goes to bring banks — and a weekly food waste service is being rolled out, starting with a pilot in April 2026.

How Havant bin collections work

With the black and recycling bins alternating fortnightly, glass to take to the banks, a food service arriving and a paid garden bin, Havant's setup takes some tracking. My Bin Day texts you the evening before each collection so nothing gets missed. Just £0.99 a month, no ads, cancel anytime. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Havant?

Havant collects the black general-waste bin and the recycling bin on alternating fortnightly weeks. The recycling bin takes paper, card, cans and plastic bottles — but no glass, which goes to bring banks. Garden waste is a paid subscription collected fortnightly. A free weekly food waste service is being introduced (a pilot for around 10,000 households started in April 2026) and will expand borough-wide. Hampshire County Council handles disposal.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Havant's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Havant council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Havant or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
