Never miss a Greenwich bin day again

Greenwich collects recycling and food-and-garden waste weekly, with only general rubbish dropping to fortnightly. Unusually, the green-top bin takes food and garden waste together — and garden waste is free, not a paid extra.

How Greenwich bin collections work

The Royal Borough of Greenwich collects the blue-top bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, card, glass bottles and jars, tins, cans, aerosols, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, cartons and foil, loose) weekly, and the green-top bin (food and garden waste together) weekly, with a kitchen caddy provided. The black-top bin (general, non-recyclable waste) is collected fortnightly on a Week A or Week B cycle. Unusually, the food-and-garden service is free. Properties without a green bin can use paper and corn-starch sacks. Present bins by 6am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Greenwich?

Greenwich collects the blue-top (mixed recycling) bin and the green-top (food and garden waste) bin weekly, with the black-top (general waste) bin fortnightly. Note the local quirks — green takes food and garden together, and it's free. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know what's due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Greenwich's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Greenwich council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Greenwich or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
