Epping Forest District Council covers Loughton, Waltham Abbey, Chipping Ongar, Buckhurst Hill and the Essex villages around the forest. From 31 March 2026 it separated food from garden waste, giving every household a free weekly food caddy alongside its fortnightly refuse and recycling bins.
With the black refuse bin and blue-lidded recycling bin alternating fortnightly, a weekly food caddy and a paid green garden bin, Epping Forest's schedule takes some remembering. My Bin Day texts you the evening before each collection so nothing gets missed. Just £0.99 a month, no ads, cancel anytime.
Bin setup and collection days come straight from Epping Forest. You can also check the council's own page at eppingforestdc.gov.uk.
Since 31 March 2026, Epping Forest collects the black refuse bin and the blue-lidded recycling bin on alternating fortnightly weeks, a brown food caddy weekly (free to all households), and garden waste fortnightly from a green-lidded bin for those with a paid subscription. Food and garden waste were previously collected together but are now fully separated. Essex County Council handles disposal.
My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.
