Never miss a East Herts bin day again

East Hertfordshire collects general rubbish and mixed recycling on alternating fortnights, with paper and card kept separate in their own bin, and a weekly food caddy. Garden waste is a paid brown bin.

How East Herts bin collections work

East Hertfordshire District Council (part of a shared waste service with North Herts) collects the refuse bin (general non-recyclable waste) fortnightly, on the alternate week to recycling. Mixed recycling (plastics, glass, tins and cans) goes in one recycling bin, while paper and cardboard are kept separate in a purple-lidded bin — both collected fortnightly on your recycling week. Food waste is collected weekly using a kitchen caddy and outdoor caddy. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly with your recycling. Properties without gardens use sacks plus a green paper box and recycling box. Present bins with the lid closed by 6am. Waste is disposed of via Hertfordshire County Council.

Common questions

When are bins collected in East Hertfordshire?

East Hertfordshire collects the refuse (general waste) bin fortnightly, with mixed recycling and a separate purple-lidded paper and card bin on the alternate week, plus a weekly food caddy and a paid brown garden bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track East Herts's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official East Herts council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with East Herts or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
