Never miss a East Hampshire bin day again

East Hampshire catches people out: the green bin here is your general rubbish, not recycling. Recycling goes in a black bin, glass is collected separately in a box, and a weekly food waste service is arriving in autumn 2026.

How East Hampshire bin collections work

East Hampshire District Council (with contractor Norse) collects the green bin (general non-recyclable waste) and the black bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, tins, cans and empty aerosols) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Glass bottles and jars are collected separately in a box, fortnightly at the kerbside. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription. A weekly food waste collection is planned to launch in October 2026, using a 5-litre kitchen caddy and an outdoor caddy — until then food waste goes in the green refuse bin. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Note the local quirk: green is your general rubbish here, not recycling. Present bins by 7am. Waste is disposed of via Hampshire County Council.

Common questions

When are bins collected in East Hampshire?

East Hampshire collects the green (general waste) and black (mixed recycling) bins on alternating fortnights, with glass collected separately, a paid brown garden bin, and a weekly food service arriving in autumn 2026. Note green is general rubbish here, not recycling. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always put the right bin out.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track East Hampshire's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official East Hampshire council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with East Hampshire or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
