Never miss a East Devon bin day again

East Devon collects recycling and food waste weekly, sorted into a green box and green sack, while general rubbish goes in a black bin just once every three weeks. Garden waste is a separate paid service.

How East Devon bin collections work

East Devon District Council collects recycling and food waste weekly, and the black bin (or gull sack in coastal areas — general non-recyclable waste) once every three weeks. Recycling is sorted at the kerbside: a green box for paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, small electricals, textiles and shoes; and a green sack for mixed plastics (not film), food and drink cartons, tins, cans, empty aerosols and foil. Food waste is collected weekly in a caddy. Garden waste goes in a green wheelie bin on a paid subscription. You can have up to three boxes, sacks and caddies. Present all containers by 7am on collection day. Waste is disposed of via Devon County Council.

Common questions

When are bins collected in East Devon?

East Devon collects the green box (paper, card, glass) and green sack (plastics, cartons, cans) plus food waste weekly, with the black bin (general waste) only every three weeks and a paid garden service. Note the three-weekly rubbish cycle. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know what to sort out.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track East Devon's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official East Devon council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with East Devon or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
