Dudley overhauled its whole recycling service in April 2026, swapping the old boxes and bags for a single blue wheelie bin and adding a weekly food caddy. Now it's a black bin for rubbish, a blue bin for all your mixed recycling, a food caddy every week, and a paid garden bin.
Dudley Council collects the black bin (non-recyclable general waste) and the blue bin (mixed recycling — paper, card, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, glass bottles and jars, tins and cans) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Food waste is collected weekly using a kitchen and kerbside caddy. Garden waste goes in a separate green bin on a paid annual subscription (around £52), collected fortnightly from March to November. The blue-bin recycling service replaced the older black-box and coloured-bag system in April 2026. Put bins out by 7am on collection day.
