Never miss a Dover bin day again

Dover keeps paper and card separate from the rest of your recycling: a blue-lidded bin for containers and glass, and a black box for paper and card. General rubbish goes in a grey-lidded bin, with a weekly food caddy and a paid garden bin.

How Dover bin collections work

Dover District Council collects the grey-lidded bin (general non-recyclable waste, or a black sack inside the bin) fortnightly. Recycling is twin-stream: the blue-lidded bin takes plastic pots, tubs, trays, bottles and jars, cans, aerosols and cartons; the black box takes paper and cardboard, kept separate. Both are collected fortnightly. Food waste is collected weekly using a grey kitchen caddy and a green lockable outdoor bin, by a separate vehicle. Garden waste goes on a paid subscription. Batteries can be left in a bag on top of the black box. Present containers by 7am on collection day. Waste is disposed of via Kent County Council.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Dover?

Dover collects the grey-lidded (general waste) bin fortnightly, with twin-stream recycling (a blue-lidded bin for containers and glass, a black box for paper and card), a weekly food caddy, and a paid garden service. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which container is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Dover's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Dover council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Dover or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
