Never miss a Dartford bin day again

Dartford is one of only two councils in Kent to keep weekly general waste collections. The green bin (rubbish) is collected weekly, the grey bin (all recycling including glass) fortnightly, and garden waste is a paid brown bin.

How Dartford bin collections work

Dartford Borough Council (with contractor FCC Environment) collects the green bin (general non-recyclable household waste, including food waste for now — or up to four black sacks) every week. The grey bin (240 litres — all dry recyclables including paper, card, plastics, cans and glass bottles and jars) is collected fortnightly. Garden waste goes in a bin on a paid subscription. Dartford is one of only two Kent councils still offering weekly rubbish collections. A separate weekly food caddy service is being prepared but food currently goes in the green refuse bin. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Note the local quirk: green is your general rubbish here. Present bins by 6am. Waste is disposed of via Kent County Council.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Dartford?

Dartford collects the green (general waste) bin weekly — one of only two Kent councils to keep weekly rubbish — with the grey (all recycling, glass included) bin fortnightly and a paid garden service. Note green is general rubbish here. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Dartford's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Dartford council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Dartford or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
