Dacorum keeps to a clear four-container setup: a grey bin for rubbish, a blue-lidded bin for all your dry recycling including glass, a green-lidded bin for garden waste, and a weekly food caddy.
Dacorum Borough Council collects the grey bin (general non-recyclable waste) and the blue-lidded bin (dry mixed recycling — paper, card, cardboard, plastics, cans, drink cartons and glass, loose) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Food waste is collected weekly using a kitchen caddy and an outdoor food bin (a black bin with an orange lid for houses, or a larger wheelie bin for flats). Garden waste goes in a green-lidded bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. Flats on high streets without food recycling use a grey-lidded bin or purple sacks.
