Never miss a Croydon bin day again

Croydon runs a twin-stream recycling service: a green bin for glass, plastics and cans, and a blue box for paper and card, collected fortnightly. General rubbish is a black bin, and food waste is collected weekly.

How Croydon bin collections work

The London Borough of Croydon collects the black bin (general, non-recyclable household waste) every fortnight. Recycling is twin-stream: the green bin takes glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and rigid containers, food and drink cans, and cartons; the blue box takes paper and card. Both are collected fortnightly. Food waste is collected weekly using a kitchen caddy and a lockable outdoor container. Garden waste goes in a bin on a paid subscription (around £90 a year), collected fortnightly. Present containers by 6am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Croydon?

Croydon collects the black (general waste) bin fortnightly, twin-stream recycling fortnightly (a green bin for glass, plastics and cans, and a blue box for paper and card), a weekly food caddy, and a paid garden bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which container is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Croydon's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Croydon council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Croydon or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
