Never miss a Crawley bin day again

Crawley uses colour-coded lids on green bins: a black lid for general rubbish and a red lid for recycling. It's one of the last areas in West Sussex with weekly general waste, though that's moving to fortnightly as a weekly food service arrives.

How Crawley bin collections work

Crawley Borough Council collects the green bin with a black lid (general non-recyclable waste — currently weekly) and the green bin with a red lid (dry mixed recycling — paper, card, plastic bottles, pots and tubs, glass bottles and jars, tins and cans; fortnightly). Garden waste goes in a green bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. A weekly food waste collection begins in autumn 2026 for houses (flats in 2027), and at the same time the general waste black-lidded bin moves from weekly to fortnightly to encourage use of the food service. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Present bins by 6am on collection day. Waste is disposed of via West Sussex County Council.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Crawley?

Crawley collects the black-lidded (general waste) bin — currently weekly, moving to fortnightly — and the red-lidded (recycling) bin fortnightly, with a paid green garden bin and a weekly food service arriving in autumn 2026. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Crawley's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Crawley council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Crawley or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
