Never miss a Chorley bin day again

Chorley catches people out: the green bin here is your general rubbish, not recycling. The blue bin takes bottles, cans and tubs, paper and card go in a brown bin collected only every four weeks, and there's a weekly food caddy.

How Chorley bin collections work

Chorley Council collects the green bin (non-recyclable household waste) and the blue bin (plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars, tins, cans, and plastic pots, tubs and trays) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Paper and cardboard go in a separate brown bin, collected only once every four weeks. Food waste is collected weekly using a kitchen caddy and lockable outdoor caddy — this service launched on 13 April 2026. Garden waste goes in a grey bin on a paid subscription (£40 a year), collected fortnightly. Note the local quirks: green is your general rubbish here, not recycling, and paper and card are collected only every four weeks. Present bins by 7am on collection day. Waste is disposed of via Lancashire County Council.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Chorley?

Chorley collects the green (general waste) and blue (bottles, cans, tubs) bins on alternating fortnights, with a brown paper-and-card bin every four weeks, a weekly food caddy (from April 2026), and a paid grey garden bin. Note green is general rubbish here. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always put the right bin out.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Chorley's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Chorley council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Chorley or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
