Cheshire West and Chester splits recycling across two lidded bins — a blue lid for paper, card and cartons, and a red lid for everything else (plastics, glass, cans) — which get tipped into a split-compartment lorry. There's a black bin for rubbish, a green bin for garden waste and a weekly food caddy.
Cheshire West and Chester Council collects the black bin (non-recyclable general waste) one week, and your two recycling bins together the next: the blue-lidded bin for paper, card and cartons, and the red-lidded bin for plastics, glass, cans and the rest of your recycling. These twin bins replaced the old boxes and are sorted into a two-compartment vehicle. Food waste is collected weekly. Garden waste goes in a green bin on a paid subscription, collected alongside the recycling. Present containers at the kerbside by 6am on collection day.
