Never miss a Cherwell bin day again

Cherwell catches people out: the green bin here is your general rubbish, not recycling. Recycling goes in a blue bin (no glass — that's taken to bottle banks), garden and food waste share a brown bin, and there's a weekly food caddy.

How Cherwell bin collections work

Cherwell District Council collects the green bin (general non-recyclable waste) one week, and the blue recycling bin (paper, card, cardboard, tins, cans, and plastic bottles and containers) plus the brown garden waste bin the following week — all on an alternating fortnightly cycle. Glass is not accepted in the blue bin and must be taken to a recycling bank. Food waste is collected weekly using a silver outdoor caddy and indoor caddy. Garden waste in the brown bin is a paid subscription. Note the local quirk: green is your general rubbish here, not recycling. Present bins by 6am (or the night before) on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Cherwell?

Cherwell collects the green (general waste) bin one week, and the blue (recycling, no glass) and brown (garden) bins the next, with a weekly silver food caddy. Note green is general rubbish here, and glass goes to bottle banks. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always put the right bin out.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Cherwell's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Cherwell council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Cherwell or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
