Cheltenham Borough Council collects the green wheelie bin (general non-recyclable waste) and the green recycling boxes (glass, plastics, tins, cans and paper) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Cardboard goes in a separate blue bag, collected with the recycling boxes. Food waste is collected weekly using a small kitchen caddy and a larger kerbside caddy — collected on the same day as whichever bin is due that week. Garden waste goes in a bin on a paid licence, collected fortnightly. Note the local quirk: the green wheelie bin is your general rubbish here, not recycling. From September 2025 the council began issuing smaller 140-litre refuse bins. Present containers by 7am on collection day.
