Calderdale doesn't use a tidy set of matching wheelie bins — depending on your property you might have a black bin or bags for rubbish, a green bin for recycling, a food caddy and, if you pay for it, a garden bin. The container mix varies street to street, so it's worth checking exactly what your address is issued.
Calderdale Council collects the black bin (or bags) for general, non-recyclable waste, and the green bin for mixed recycling — paper, card, tins, cans, glass and plastic bottles and tubs. Food waste is collected weekly using the kitchen caddy and outdoor caddy. Garden waste is an optional paid service (around £58 a year) collected fortnightly between March and November. Container types vary by property across Halifax, Brighouse, Elland, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden, so check what your address has. Present bins at the boundary by 6am.
