Never miss a Broxtowe bin day again

Broxtowe uses a black-lidded bin for rubbish and a green-lidded bin for recycling, with glass kept separate in a red-lidded bin or bag collected monthly. Garden waste is a paid brown-lidded bin. Food waste currently goes in the black bin.

How Broxtowe bin collections work

Broxtowe Borough Council (with contractor Veolia) collects the black-lidded bin (general household waste, including food waste for now) and the green-lidded bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, card, plastic bottles, pots and tubs, cans, cartons and foil; from 31 March 2026 more plastics are accepted) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Glass bottles and jars go separately in a red-lidded bin or a council glass bag, collected once every four weeks. Garden waste goes in a brown-lidded bin on a paid subscription. A separate weekly food waste service is expected under national rules. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Present bins and glass bags by 6:30am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Broxtowe?

Broxtowe collects the black-lidded (general waste) and green-lidded (recycling) bins on alternating fortnights, with glass in a red-lidded bin or bag every four weeks and a paid brown garden bin. Food currently goes in the black bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Broxtowe's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Broxtowe council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Broxtowe or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
