Never miss a Broadland bin day again

Broadland has the highest recycling rate in Norfolk and was the first in the county to collect food waste. General rubbish and recycling alternate fortnightly, with a weekly food caddy and a paid brown garden bin.

How Broadland bin collections work

Broadland District Council (run jointly with South Norfolk, contractor Veolia) collects the general waste bin (non-recyclable household rubbish) and the recycling bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, card, plastics, metals, cartons and glass, all together and loose) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Food waste is collected weekly using a small indoor caddy and a 23-litre outdoor caddy — Broadland was the first Norfolk council to offer this, now district-wide. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. Extra recycling can be left in a clear sack beside the bin. Present bins by 6:30am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Broadland?

Broadland collects the general waste and mixed recycling (glass included) bins on alternating fortnights, with a weekly food caddy and a paid brown garden bin. It has the highest recycling rate in Norfolk. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Broadland's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Broadland council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Broadland or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
