Never miss a Braintree bin day again

Braintree overhauled its collections in June 2026: general rubbish moved to three-weekly, with recycling split between a blue-lidded bin (containers and glass) and a red-lidded bin (paper and card). Food waste is collected weekly, and garden waste is a paid green bin.

How Braintree bin collections work

Braintree District Council collects the grey bin (general non-recyclable waste) once every three weeks (from 1 June 2026). Recycling is split into two bins on alternating fortnights: the blue-lidded bin for glass bottles and jars, metals, plastics, soft plastics and food and drink cartons; and the red-lidded bin for paper and cardboard. Food waste is collected weekly. Garden waste goes in a green bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. Recycling must be loose (not bagged) with lids shut — sacks left beside bins won't be collected. Present bins by 7am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Braintree?

Braintree collects the grey (general waste) bin every three weeks, with recycling split between a blue-lidded bin (glass, plastics, cans) and a red-lidded bin (paper and card) on alternating fortnights, plus a weekly food caddy and a paid green garden bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Braintree's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Braintree council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Braintree or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
