Never miss a Boston bin day again

Boston runs an unusual four-week rotating collection: paper and card one week, refuse the next, mixed recycling the week after, then refuse again. Glass shares the mixed recycling stream, and garden waste is a paid brown bin.

How Boston bin collections work

Boston Borough Council collects on a four-week rotating cycle: week one is paper and card (black or purple-lidded bin), week two is household refuse, week three is mixed dry recycling (blue bin — plastics, cans, glass and cartons), and week four is household refuse again. So your refuse bin is emptied every fortnight, while each recycling stream comes round every four weeks, on the same weekday. Garden waste goes in a brown bin on a paid subscription. Recycling must be loose, not bagged. A separate weekly food waste service is being introduced under national rules. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Present bins with the lid closed by 6am.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Boston?

Boston runs a four-week cycle — paper and card, then refuse, then mixed recycling (glass included), then refuse — so refuse is fortnightly and each recycling stream is four-weekly, plus a paid brown garden bin. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which bin is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Boston's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Boston council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Boston or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
