Bolton runs a four-bin, four-colour system where the paper bin only comes round once a month — so the beige bin is the one people forget. The grey, burgundy and green bins are on a fortnightly rhythm, but that four-weekly beige gap is where cardboard piles up.
Bolton Council collects the grey bin (general waste) every two weeks, the burgundy bin (glass, cans, tins, foil and plastic pots, tubs, trays and bottles) every two weeks, and the green bin (food waste mixed with garden waste) every two weeks. The beige bin (paper, card and cartons) is collected every four weeks, so it's the easy one to miss. Present bins from 7pm the evening before and by 7am on collection day, with the lid closed.
Bin setup and collection days come straight from Bolton. You can also check the council's own page at bolton.gov.uk.
Bolton collects the grey (general waste), burgundy (glass, cans and plastics) and green (food and garden) bins fortnightly, and the beige (paper and card) bin every four weeks. Your exact day depends on your address — My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection, so the four-weekly beige bin never catches you out.
My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.
