Bolsover uses a burgundy bin for recycling, a black bin for rubbish, and a green bin for garden waste (which is free but paused over winter). A weekly food waste caddy was added in spring 2026.
Bolsover District Council collects the black bin (domestic non-recyclable waste) one week, and the burgundy bin (mixed dry recycling — bottles, cans, paper, card, plastics, cartons, foil and carrier bags) and green bin (garden waste) the following week, all on a fortnightly cycle. The green garden waste service is free but suspended over the winter period. A weekly food waste caddy was added on 30 March 2026. Extra recycling can be left in a box or clear bag beside the burgundy bin, and flattened cardboard alongside it. Present bins with the lid shut by 6am on collection day.
