Never miss a Blackpool bin day again

Blackpool overhauled its collections in 2026: general waste, recycling and paper all moved to a three-weekly cycle, with a new weekly food caddy added. The grey bin is rubbish, blue is mixed recycling, and the brown bin now takes paper and card (replacing the old brown bags).

How Blackpool bin collections work

Blackpool Council collects the grey bin (household non-recyclable waste), the blue bin (recyclable plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays, glass jars and bottles, and tins), and the brown bin (cardboard and paper) each once every three weeks. Food waste is collected weekly in a kerbside caddy, a service introduced in April 2026. Garden waste is a paid 'Green and Go' subscription (£30 a year). The three-weekly grey cycle is designed to encourage more recycling. Present all bins by 7am on collection day with the lids closed.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Blackpool?

Blackpool collects the grey (general waste), blue (mixed recycling) and brown (paper and card) bins each once every three weeks, with a weekly food caddy and a paid green garden service. Note that Blackpool moved to a three-weekly cycle in 2026. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always know which of the three-weekly bins is due.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Blackpool's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Blackpool council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Blackpool or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
