Never miss a Basildon bin day again

Basildon uses a distinctive colour-coded sack and box system rather than a single recycling bin: blue bags for paper and card, white sacks for plastic and cans, and an orange box for glass. There's a black bin for rubbish, a weekly food caddy, and a paid green garden bin.

How Basildon bin collections work

Basildon Borough Council collects the black bin (general non-recyclable waste) weekly. Recycling is separated at the kerbside: blue bags for paper and cardboard, white sacks for plastic packaging and metal cans (both collected weekly), and an orange box for glass bottles and jars (collected fortnightly). Food waste is collected weekly in a caddy. Garden waste goes in a green bin on a paid subscription. Blue and white sack rolls are delivered twice a year, and a roll of food caddy liners once a year. Keep recycling clean, dry and loose. Present everything by 7:30am on collection day.
