Barking and Dagenham is an easy one to get wrong: the brown bin here is your recycling, not garden waste, and the grey bin is general rubbish, collected weekly. Garden waste is a separate paid green bin.
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham collects the grey bin (general, non-recyclable household waste) weekly, and the brown bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, card, plastic bottles, pots and tubs, cans, tins, glass bottles and jars, books, aerosols and clean foil) every two weeks. Garden waste goes in a green bin on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly between March and December. Extra recycling can be presented in clear sacks next to the brown bin. Note the local quirk: brown is your recycling here, not garden waste. Present bins by 6am on collection day.
