Never miss a Ashfield bin day again

Ashfield uses a colour-lid system that catches people out: the red-lidded bin is your general rubbish, the green-lidded bin is recycling, and glass has its own blue-lidded bin collected only once every eight weeks. A weekly food waste service is arriving in 2027.

How Ashfield bin collections work

Ashfield District Council collects the red-lidded bin (180 litres, general non-recyclable waste) and the green-lidded bin (mixed dry recycling — paper, card, tins, cans, aerosols, cartons, foil, and plastic bottles, margarine tubs and yogurt pots) on alternating fortnightly weeks. Glass bottles and jars go in a separate blue-lidded bin, collected only once every eight weeks. Garden waste goes on a paid subscription (around £35 a year), collected March to December. A separate weekly food waste collection is being introduced in 2027. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Note the local quirks: red is general rubbish here, and glass is collected only every eight weeks. Present bins by 6am on collection day.

Common questions

When are bins collected in Ashfield?

Ashfield collects the red-lidded (general waste) and green-lidded (recycling) bins on alternating fortnights, with a blue-lidded glass bin every eight weeks and a paid garden service. Note red is general rubbish here, and a weekly food service arrives in 2027. My Bin Day reads your council schedule and texts you the evening before each collection so you always put the right bin out.

How much does this cost?

My Bin Day is 99p a month — less than a coffee a year. Cancel any time by replying STOP to a reminder and you won't be charged again.

Do you handle bank holidays?

Yes. We track Ashfield's published schedule, including the shifts that bank holidays and seasonal changes cause, so your reminder always reflects the real collection date.

Is this an official Ashfield council service?

No — My Bin Day is an independent service and is not affiliated with Ashfield or any council. We simply read the council's published collection schedule and send you a friendly reminder.
