Adur (run jointly with Worthing) collects general rubbish and recycling on alternating fortnights, with a new weekly food waste service. The recycling bin has a blue lid and unusually takes plastic film and bags too. Garden waste is a separate paid service.
Adur District Council collects the general waste bin (dark grey or black lid) and the recycling bin (grey body with a blue lid) on alternating fortnightly weeks. The blue-lidded recycling bin takes glass bottles and jars, cardboard, paper, food and drink cans, foil, aerosols, plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays, and — unusually — plastic film and bags. Weekly food waste collections are being introduced in a phased rollout from March 2026, using a 5-litre kitchen caddy and a 23-litre outdoor caddy. This information was correct at the time of writing; the council has proposals to change its collection schedule currently under review, so your service may be updated in future. Garden waste goes on a paid subscription, collected fortnightly. Present bins by 6am on collection day.
